On October 15, 2021, Hashim Safi Al-Din, the head of Hizbullah's Executive Council, spoke at the funeral of victims of a shootout that left seven people dead and at least 30 injured the previous day during a rally in Beirut. Safi Al-Din said that the shootout had been an act of “premeditated” murder carried out by the Lebanese Forces Party at the behest of the United States, and with the funding of certain Arabs, in order to drag Lebanon into another civil war. Safi Al-Din said: “We will not let the blood of our martyrs [be] spilled in vain.” He and the audience chanted: “Death to America!” The October 14 rally had been organized by Hizbullah and Amal to demand the dismissal of the lead investigator of the 2020 Beirut port explosion. Safi Al-Din's statements aired on Al-Manar TV (Hizbullah-Lebanon). For more about Hashim Safi Al-Din, see MEMRI TV Clip No. 8011.
Hashim Safi Al-Din: "The killing in this massacre was premeditated. The bullets that hit people's heads constituted premeditated murder. This killing, this entire massacre, was carried out by the Lebanese Forces Party.

"I am not exaggerating by telling you that the Lebanese Forces party strived, by doing what it did yesterday, to cause another internal civil war in Lebanon.

"Today, that political party has revealed its true face. Why was it forced to do this? That's another issue. We do not have time to go into this. Maybe it had to, maybe it was urged to do it... Perhaps its masters, who have been defeated throughout the region, urged this plan, in order to drag Lebanon into a civil war. Death to America!"
Crowd: Death to America! Death to America! Death to America! Death to America! Death to America! Death to America!"

Al-Din: "What we saw yesterday was a link in a chain [of events] orchestrated by the U.S., and is financed by some Arabs. Look at the history. In books about the history of the civil war, you always see that the superpowers push [for war] and the Arabs bankroll it.

"We will not be dragged into sectarian strife. We will not be dragged into civil war. At the same time, however, we will not let the blood of our martyrs and oppressed to be spilled in vain."
