Hizbullah Sec.-Gen. Nasrallah: The U.S. Supports ISIS, Runs the Entire War in Our Region

In an October 23 speech at a ceremony marking the 'Ashura holiday in Beirut, Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said that the U.S. "provided ISIS with money, weapons, and aid," and that "the war raging in our region is actually being led by the US." The speech aired on the Iranian Al-Alam TV channel.

Following are excerpts:

Hassan Nasrallah: America, as the heir of the old imperialist powers, joined by the remnants of the old imperialist powers, led by France and Britain, aim at controlling our region and our countries in all aspects. They want this region to be under their control – politically, militarily, culturally, and in terms of its economy and security.

Their goal is for everybody in this region – governments, peoples, political powers, and social elites – to become submissive and to align with the will of the U.S. We will have to accept every political thing that the U.S. wants for us, and the same goes for security and economy. It has also meddled with our cultural and religion.

If America wants us all to accept Israel in the region, we have to accept it. It is forbidden to oppose Israel, to fight it, or to resist it, or even to debate the terms of its survival, its existence, its identity, and its character. Everybody is expected to accept whatever America wants. Anyone who does not bow his head and accept it – will face a smart, multi-faceted war by the U.S.: at times a military war, at times a political or economic war, or a war through the media, a siege, or sanctions.

This is the price of free will in the world today – not only in the Arab and Islamic world. If anyone wants to be free in this world, a sovereign of his land and people, to be independent and to make decisions according to the interests of this country, people, and nation – America will not have that. They must expect an American war in some form or other. This is what has been happening in our region, in our countries, and in the entire world, for dozens of years, since the end of World War I and World War II.

They want the oil, the natural gas, and all the natural resources of the Arab and Islamic world under their thumb. The oil and natural gas supposedly belong to the Arab and Islamic governments, but in reality, they belong to the U.S. and to the big American oil corporations, through their representatives in the region.

The war raging in our region is actually being led by the U.S. It is the U.S. that is supporting, helping, dictating the tempo, and coordinating. It is the U.S. that is running the entire war in our region. In Iraq – I will return to Syria in a moment… In Iraq, who provided ISIS with money, weapons, and aid? America and all its friends in the region. Why? Because America wants to bring the Iraqis to their knees, after they drove it out and defeated its occupation. America wants to bring the Iraqis to their knees, to humiliate them, and to force them to obey its dictates once again.
