In a September 29, 2024 session of the Iranian Majles following the assassination of Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf led members in the chant: “Death to America! Death to Israel!” He said that the United States is “an accomplice” in the crimes of the Zionist regime, and therefore it must accept the consequences. Other members of the Majles criticized the regime for not avenging the assassinations of Qasem Soleimani and Ismail Haniyeh, saying that if there had been vengeance for them, the assassination of Nasrallah would have been avoided. One member suggested that Iran should rethink its nuclear and military doctrine. The session was aired on IRINN TV (Iran).
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf: "We consider our support for the resistance to be based on deep human and Islamic beliefs, and our maintenance and strengthening of the resistance as part of the strategic pillars of providing national and regional security against the Zionist aggressors. Based on the religious decree of the Leader of the Revolution [Khamenei] we will not hesitate to help the resistance at any level necessary. We also believe that the Zionist regime plans and implements its criminal actions with the military, security, financial, media, and international intelligence support of the United States. The United States is an accomplice in all these crimes, and until it forces the Zionist regime to comply with the humanitarian and international frameworks, it must accept the consequences."

"If we had properly avenged the pure blood of General Qasem Soleimani, and had targeted the heads of this evil regime, would the enemy be brazen enough to continue the assassinations? Our wise Leader who had ordered a harsh revenge back then, thanked the IRGC armed forces for their missile attack on the Ain Al-Assad airbase and said that this was 'a day of Allah,' but he also said that this was just a slap. The rational and Quranic logic dictates that revenge must be comparable [to the crime], so that it will result in deterrence. Unfortunately, the harsh revenge for the blood of Hajj Qasem has been forgotten with time. In their next step, the [enemies] targeted our esteemed guest, the martyr Ismail Haniyeh in the heart of the nation of Islam.

"Again, some of our political figures have cast doubts and made excuses [claiming] we should not fall into the trap of war. It is strange that they do not recognize the obvious battle we are facing. They are talking about the trap of war while we are already in the midst of war, and the enemy has crossed all our redlines."

"The order has been given. For our national honor, pride, independence, and identity, and regardless of what the resistance front is doing – the matter of blood vengeance for Haniyeh is a national demand. Undoubtedly, the will of our youth will crush the hopes of the Israeli regime.
