Iranian political analyst Emad Abshenas explained in a September 9, 2024 show on Sky News Arabia (UAE) that the "final goal of Iran and the resistance axis is to destroy Israel." He explained that any Iranian attack against Israel might save Netanyahu from his own entanglements, and it is not in Iran's interest to do so because Netanyahu is destroying "everything the Jews have been trying to build for 2,000 years."

Emad Abshenas: "The final goal of Iran and the resistance axis is to destroy Israel. Today, we see that the conduct of the Netanyahu government and Netanyahu himself, is sending Israel into the vortex of its collapse. Why should we save Netanyahu from the quicksand, into which he threw himself and Israel?

"Any Iranian attack against Israel might save Netanyahu from the entanglement in which he finds himself.

"Let me put this in context. Perhaps we should look at this as a boxing match between Iran and Israel. The boxer who takes the punches, but at the end lands the knockout blow will win the match. The winner is not the boxer who happily throws lots of punches. The final blow is the important one. Today, Iran is waiting for the right opportunity to deliver the knockout blow.

"However, Iran believes that Netanyahu and his government... A few moments ago you talked about the situation between Israel and Jordan, and the situation between Israel and Egypt. Until a few months ago, the Egyptian-Israeli relations and the Jordanian-Israeli relations were good and the borders were secured.

"Today, however, these relations have become strained. Why would Iran impede that [process]?  Today, Israel is destroying everything that it has built – not only following the establishment of the Zionist entity... We are talking about what the Jews have done in the past 2,000 years. Netanyahu is destroying everything that the Jews have been trying to build for 2,000 years. We are watching [from the sidelines] what he is doing."
