Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a June 3, 2020 address that aired on Channel 1 (Iran) that the protests in the U.S. surrounding the death of George Floyd are an "eruption of truths that have always been hidden." Describing how the policeman pressed his knee on George Floyd's neck, Khamenei said that this is what America has done to nations in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and the entire world and he elaborated that this is in America's nature.

Ali Khamenei: "What we see today in the various cities and states in America is an eruption of truths that have always been kept hidden. This isn't something new. It is an eruption of truths. The sludge at the bottom of the pond is floating up to the surface. This is the situation. A policeman coldly put his knee on a black man's neck. He kept it there and pressed until his soul left him... The man begged and pleaded and the [policeman] coldly sat on him and pressed, while some policemen stood and watched, doing nothing. This is nothing new. This is the nature of America. This is what Americans have been doing to the entire world. They did this to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and many other countries before. This did this to Vietnam. It is characteristic of America. This is the nature of the American regime and this is how it is being manifested today. The American public is chanting: 'Let us breathe! We can't breathe!' It has become their slogan in the various states and in the widespread protests in the various cities, and in fact, this same thing has been said by every nation that America has invaded and oppressed."
