Following are excerpts from a Friday sermon delivered by Imam Nabil Abd Al-Aziz at the Islamic Center of Cremona, Italy, which was posted on the Internet on December 5, 2014:
Nabil Abd Al-Aziz: The Christians in Egypt claim that it was originally a Coptic country, which belonged to the Christians. They say that the Byzantines came and occupied Egypt, treating its [Coptic] population in the worst possible way. The Copts say: We invited the Muslims to save us from the Byzantines. So the Muslims came, got rid of the Byzantines, but stayed themselves. Thus, say the Copts, the Muslims occupied Egypt. The Christians of Egypt believe that the country is occupied by the Muslims.
No priests anywhere in the world except in Egypt wear black at all times. All other priests wear white. Some may wear both, but only the Egyptians always wear black. When asked why they always wear black robes, they said that this was a symbol of mourning, because Egypt used to be a Christian-Coptic country, which was occupied by the Muslims, and is still under occupation. They say: We shall not wear white until Egypt becomes Coptic again. This is what they believe.
So now they ban the use of contraceptives. They instruct their women to bear many children, in order to increase their numbers, so that Egypt will once again become a Coptic country. Never in your life will you see… I lived in Egypt for almost 40 years, and I never saw a Christian beggar. All the beggars are Muslims. All their beggars go to a church or a monastery, and they give them money. I have never seen a Christian going begging from door to door. Only the Muslims have to do that.
