Al-Jazeera TV's military analyst, Fayez Al-Dwairi, said in a September 22, 2024, episode of Atheer (Al-Jazeera's podcast on YouTube) that there should be a plan for the liberation of Palestine, and not a plan for peace. He added that he does not believe in Israel's right to exist.
Fayez Al-Dwairi: "I am not an icon, and I don't consider myself anything special. I am just another retired Arab general. I have participated in hundreds of dialogues, especially with American generals, focusing on many issues, like the strategic aspect, the [use of] UAVs, asymmetric warfare, the war in Ukraine…
"In all cases, I turned out to be more informed and knowledgeable than them. I represent a certain group; I am not representing just myself. So I reiterate, if the Arab officer applies himself, his horizons are endless. I enrolled in a strategic planning course. To this day, as far as I know, I am the only one who got a master's degree. No other graduate achieved it. They all only got a postgraduate diploma."
Interviewer: "You mean no other graduate from the Arab world?"
Al-Dwairi: "The Arabs are not even allowed in this course!"
Interviewer: "Ah, okay."
Al-Dwairi: "I am talking about the British, the Germans, and the Americans. None of them achieved a master's degree."
Interviewer: "If, God forbid, you were leading the Israeli army, what would be your reaction to October 7, from the military perspective of the Israeli interest?"
Al-Dwairi: "Look, it is difficult to answer your question, because you are asking me to put myself in a place where I do not want to be."

Al-Dwairi: "In addition, I am coming from a different place. I am coming from a culture with a moral, ethical, and religious heritage. Israel is now refusing the establishment of a Palestinian state. "Now there should be a plan for the liberation of Palestine rather than a peace plan, because it has been proven to me that there is no one to make peace with. Do they believe in the right of Palestine and the Palestinians to exist? They do not believe in the right of the Palestinians to exist? So we got to the point where they do not recognize the Palestinians' right to exist, but they consider me to be an extremist. I do not believe in Israel's right to exist in the Arab region."
