Palestinian politician Azzam Al-Ahmad, who serves on the PLO Executive Committee and on the Fatah Central Committee, said in a June 24, 2023 interview on Falestinona TV (Fatah-Lebanon) that the Palestinians should not relinquish their historical rights to Palestine and should follow the examples of the Viet Cong, North Korea, and China and accept "interim" solutions in order to establish rule in part of the country in order to seek full reunification. Azzam Al-Ahmad is a former member of the Palestinian cabinet and former Palestinian ambassador to Iraq.

Azzam Al-Ahmad: "We must cooperate with all the aspects of international legitimacy, until we achieve all of our goals, and reach the historical solution. There is a difference between the interim solution and the historical solution."

Interviewer: "What is the historical solution?"

Al-Ahmad: "We have rights in all of historical Palestine.

"The Vietnam War began with a war against the French. Ho Chi Minh won it and defeated the French. He settled for North Vietnam and established a state there. Right?"

Interviewer: "True."

Al-Ahmad: "Before you were born, there was North Vietnam and South Vietnam. After 15 years, the Viet Cong renewed the revolution in the south. Three years later, they called it 'armed propaganda.' The fighters would enter the villages with their weapons, and then leave. They did this just so the people would see them. This is how they created the culture for the renewal of the revolution. Then, South Vietnam came to an end, and the greater Vietnam was founded, right?"

Interviewer: "Yes."

Al-Ahmad: "Look what is happening with Korea. North Korea has become a nuclear country. The world trembles every time it tests a ballistic missile with a range of 2000 km. Has China restored Hong Kong, or not? Has Taiwan become a member of the United Nations? No. If Taiwan made any [such] move, China would place it under siege. We, too, say that we will not relinquish our historical rights."
