Palestinian business tycoon Munib Al-Masri (also known as the "Duke of Nablus") said in a May 24, 2023 interview on Falestinona TV (Fatah-Lebanon) that deceased PLO leader Yasser Arafat told him that the Oslo Accords, in which a two-state solution was presented, was part of his plan to create "one democratic country." He said that Arafat had explained that his plan was to have Israel accept the two-state solution as a "first phase" before the Right of Return is implemented and one country is created. Al-Masri said that the Zionists do not really want a two-state solution but rather want the entire land. In 2021, Munib Al-Masri was part of an initiative to sue the United Kingdom and Israel over the "crimes and atrocities" of the Balfour Declaration
Munib Al-Masri: "The Zionist movement has never believed in either the two-state solution, or a one-state solution. They want the [entire] land. Unfortunately, they want to have their cake and eat it too. This is why we demand from the whole world... When Arafat presented the two-state solution in Oslo, I was very upset with him, because he said that 22% would go to the Palestinians and the rest to the Israelis.
"I went to visit him in Tunis, and he said to me: 'Calm down. Our idea is to have them accept the two-state solution as a first phase, until the Arabs learn...'
Interviewer: "A transitional solution..."
Al-Masri: "Yes. [He said:] 'Until [the Palestinians] live comfortably, and the Right of Return is implemented, and all that, and then we will be living in one democratic country.'"
