Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar said in an October 27, 2020 interview on Al-Alam TV (Iran) that normalization with Israel is an act of betrayal against Allah and the Prophet Muhammad, and he argued that the Quran strictly forbids striking alliances with the Jews and the Christians. Al-Zahhar also said that the Palestinians have been able to manufacture their weapons domestically and without the aid of countries that are now normalizing with Israel (see MEMRI TV clip no. 8307 for more info about Hamas weapons manufacturing in Gaza). In addition, he said that the people of Gaza and Palestine must fight the Israeli occupation and that an alliance between the Palestinians, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and others who have been affected by the Israeli occupation would surely spell the end of Israel.
Mahmoud Al-Zahhar: "We cannot consider [normalization with Israel] to be 'normal.' It is a misleading term that is interchangeable with treason, or with stabbing the resistance in the back, or with betraying Allah and His Messenger. Particularly, and this is the central issue... This is primarily because it goes against what Allah revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
"[The Quran says:] 'Oh, believers do not...' This is a total prohibition... 'Do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies...' This refers to love, help, and support, which is normalization... 'Do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies, for they are allies of each other. Whosoever does so shall be counted as one of them.' This means that normalization transfers anybody who normalizes with Israel from Islam to Judaism, from belief to heresy.

"The missiles, the guns, and the explosives coming out of [Gaza], and the training that is taking place here, do not depend on Sudan or on anybody else. We have dealt with this matter even before normalization was declared."
Interviewer: "You mean that you developed national production?"
Al Zahhar: "Of course, when Allah tells us to prepare for them, then we prepare. We acquire the raw materials and use them. These raw materials are available to us today. You saw what we found in the sea, and the water pipes that had been in the [Israeli] settlements, which we used as raw materials. Allah will never abandon us."

"Palestine is entirely under occupation, with the exception of the Gaza Strip, which is under siege. Israel is the occupier. [The people of] Gaza and Palestine must fight Israel everywhere until Palestine is liberated. That's one side. Another side [is] southern Lebanon, which is also under Israeli occupation. The Lebanese resistance must reorganize in order to liberate its land from the Israeli occupation. We have the same enemy and the same goal, it's just the [occupied] land that is different. Syria also has occupied lands. Iran is a large country and nation that is also a target. If this is the situation, why shouldn't there be an alliance in which everybody who has suffered from the Israeli occupation stands against it? Imagine what would happen if everybody united. It would spell the end of Israel."
