Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, who is also the secretary of the PLO's Executive Committee, said in a May 30, 2020 interview on Russia Today TV that the only option is to sever relations with Israel and the U.S. and to entirely reject the Deal of the Century, which he described as a biased, blind, extreme, and racist plan. He said that the PLO was established for the purpose of restoring sovereignty to Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and he said that Arab governments that cooperate with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu are stabbing the Palestinians in the back. In addition, he said that senior White House advisor Jared Kushner is ignorant and arrogant, and that Kushner, Trump advisor Jason Greenblatt, and the "Biblical" U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman should not be allowed to decide the future of the region.
Saeb Erekat: "There are no 'options.' There is only one option: Absolute rejection of the [Deal of the Century] plan. This is the most biased plan in the political history of the effort to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This is the most blind, extreme, and racist plan. When facing these issues that are presented to the world in an official plan, we have no option but to reject it completely, and to sever all our ties with the Israelis and the Americans.

[We were born to put it back] on the geographical maps. Sovereign means independent. This was the birth of the PLO. This was the Palestinian birth.

"If a certain Arab country decided that it is in its best interest to meet Netanyahu, what can I possibly do? Do whatever you want, but know that you are stabbing me in the back. You are stabbing me in the back and, sadly, providing free services to a war criminal called Benjamin Netanyahu, who is standing trial, in his own courts, for corruption, and who will soon face trial in the international court. Why [meet him]? Because Kushner called?

"I have met Kushner 37 times. He is a blend of ignorance and arrogance. This is the truth. The fact that this ideologue, who is one of the biggest donors for the settlements... Him and Friedman, the Biblical ambassador, who was the head of the guards at the Beit El settlement, or Jason Greenblatt, whose children are studying in a Gush etzion settlement - these are the people who get to decide the future and fate of the region?"
