Sudanese Islamic scholar Muhammad Abd Al-Karim, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Scholars' Association, said in an October 24, 2020 interview on Channel 9 (Turkey) that France has cursed the Prophet Muhammad, and is therefore a belligerent country. He also said that all Muslim countries must sever their ties with France.
Interviewer: "What is the ruling [of the shari'a] regarding an infidel who curses the Prophet Muhammad?"
Muhammad Abd Al-Karim: "An infidel who curses the Prophet Muhammad becomes a combatant. Regardless of the kind of treaty that we may have had with him, he has violated that treaty by cursing the Prophet Muhammad. Having been considered peaceful, he is now considered a combatant. Therefore, the rulings that apply to him are those of a combatant, who wages war against the Muslims.
"Such a person becomes a combatant, and it is forbidden to have any kind of relations with such a country. In other words, according to the ruling of the shari'a, all Muslim countries must sever their ties with France. This is the ruling of the shari'a because France has become a belligerent country, by insisting on its insolence towards the Prophet Muhammad. This has become their official position."
