Following are excerpts from an interview with President of Yemen Ali Abdallah Saleh, which aired on Russia Today TV on April 28, 2011:
Ali Abdallah Saleh: Qatar is financing anarchy in Yemen, Egypt, Syria, and the entire Arab nation. They have a lot of money and a tiny population, and they don't know what to do with all their money. They want to become a regional superpower, by means of Al-Jazeera TV. You may have heard that several Al-Jazeera presenters resigned, because Al-Jazeera has become an unprofessional and irresponsible channel. The management of Al-Jazeera is provocative toward the entire Arab nation, and even toward several European countries. It has ulterior motives.
We regret their reckless conduct and their involvement in a conspiracy. We consider it to be a conspiracy. We will not sign [the agreement] if Qatar is among the GCC foreign ministers. We accepted all the GCC members, with the exception of Qatar, as long as it is involved [in conspiracy].
