The following excerpts are from a demonstration of Yemeni security forces displaying their skills, which aired on Yemen TV on April 11, 2010.
Announcer: Now, the course will demonstrate its capabilities. I invite the brothers in charge of the anti-riot force course, to explain the anti-riot drills.
Member of Anti-Riot Force: One of the most important aspects of the anti-riot unit is the show of force, as you will see now. The goal is to spread fear, horror, and panic among the demonstrators, making them scatter in several directions.
The Anti-Riot Force marches in formation, loudly beating their shields with batons
Now the anti-riot force will assume its basic formation, from which the commander may shift to any other formation. You are now witnessing the "arrowhead" formation. It is used to split the masses and to force them to disperse.
The Anti-Riot Force quickly moves into a formation shaped like an arrowhead, then several members fire their weapons.
Announcer: I invite the official in charge of the military police course, to explain the drills the course will perform.
Official of Military Police Course: What you are now seeing is the work of the military police in charge of buildings. Drill no. 2 deals with a roadblock. The first example that you are seeing is of a vehicle whose driver is wanted by the security forces, according to the orders of the central security agency, and based on intel that the driver plans to detonate an explosives belt. The commander drags him in order to isolate him. This way he is prevented from reaching his goal.
An SUV is stopped by the military police, and driver and passenger are commanded out of the vehicle. The commander then proceeds to topple the driver from behind, securing his arms away from his body. The passenger is also secured on the ground in similar fashion.

Announcer: Now we will watch the performance of the 11th VIP security course. First, we will watch a shooting drill called "Trust." The drill will demonstrate firing at three targets from a kneeling position. When the first target is hit, the flag of the Republic will appear. A sign will appear when the second target is hit, and the same goes for the third target.
Three soldiers shoot at a target one at a time. Each soldier hits the target on the first try.
Announcer: We've just seen the skilled marksmanship of the members of the guard. The second drill is of "Trust" marksmanship around heads.
The next drill has three soldiers standing under targets adorned with balloons. The shooters successfully hit each balloon without harming the soldiers standing underneath them. One soldier demonstrates his ability to hit a target using a small mirror while standing backwards.
Announcer: Now we will watch some car drills. We will see a drill of [securing a VIP] when he arrives.
Several vehicles pull up with guards and a mock VIP. The soldiers proceed to walk into the middle of the plaza. A shot is fired and the soldiers quickly move into a formation that completely secures the VIP, while shooting in all directions.
