On September 24, 2024, TaiwanPlus News published on its YouTube channel a report about a recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test held by China, its first since the 1980’s. In a statement, Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said that the missile was carrying a dummy warhead and hit its designated target in international waters in the Pacific Ocean. He explained that the launch was conducted as part of routine annual training and in compliance with international laws and norms, without being directed at any specific country. According to reports, the missile flew over U.S.-controlled Guam.
