Dog! Traitor! - Islamists' Debate on ISIS and Hamas Turns into Exchange of Insults

A recent TV debate between Syrian scholar Abdallah bin Ali Dhal' and Lebanese scholar Bailal Al-Daqmaq deteriorated into an exchange of insults after Abdallah bin Ali Dhal' called Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi an "ungrateful dog." Tempers flared up again when the issue of Hamas arose.

Following are excerpts from the debate, which aired on the Lebanese ANB TV channel on July 22, 2014:

TV host: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey have been accused of supporting ISIS. But ISIS is very extremist and might pose a danger to those three countries. How come Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey are supporting a group that endangers them?

Abdallah bin Ali Dhal': They witnessed the steadfastness of the Syrian army in its battles against the terrorists. I believe that when King Abdullah dies, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi will take his place in Saudi Arabia, because Saudi Arabia has been feeding this ungrateful dog…

Bilal Al-Daqmaq: Bashar is the dog, not Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

Abdallah bin Ali Dhal': You are a dog, Bilal.

Bilal Al-Daqmaq: No, you are the dog. Watch your language…

Abdallah bin Ali Dhal': I did not say that Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi himself is a dog. Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is a criminal. Even a dog is more honorable than him.

Bilal Al-Daqmaq: No, a dog is more honorable than you.

Abdallah bin Ali Dhal': Indeed, may He unite me with the heroic mujahideen, like the honorable resistance of Hizbullah and the mujahideen of the Syrian army.

Bilal Al-Daqmaq: What, Hamas is not honorable enough for you?

Abdallah bin Ali Dhal': I'm talking about our allies, but Hamas is a traitor. The wound of Gaza will remind us of Hamas. We will support those who have been unfaithful towards us. Out of loyalty to Gaza, I won't mention the open wound caused by Hamas, and how the treacherous Khaled Mash'al stabbed us in the back.
