In a May 28 interview on MBC Misr TV, Egyptian composer Helmy Bakr said that President Al-Sisi had been "sent by God" to win the elections and was not just a "regular creature."
Following are excerpts:
Interviewer: You were quoted as saying that you would commit intellectual suicide if Al-Sisi was not elected president.
Helmy Bakr: Very well, let's talk about politics.
Interviewer: Go ahead.
Helmy Bakr: Al-Sisi is a God-given gift. Don't think for one moment that he is a regular creature, who was looking to become president. No. He was sent by God. God made this military commander win the elections. The people love him. He became president and had great achievements. I dare you to say that Obama is capable of matching Al-Sisi's achievements. Whenever anyone makes a mistake, Al-Sisi gets rid of him.
Interviewer: Aren't you concerned that people listening to you will think that you are kissing up to Al-Sisi?
Helmy Bakr: Why would I want to do that? I owe him nothing. I met him a few times, and I didn't even get up from my seat. I am bedazzled by him, so whenever I see him, I take a step backward so I can see him in his totality. He is as big as that!

I demand to place the middle echelon of the Muslim Brotherhood on trial. They are the ones who get the orders and pass them down to the perpetrators. For every bomb they plant, three or four of them should be executed, because their lives are no more precious than those of the victims.
