In a Friday, December 9, 2022 sermon at the Surda Mosque in the West Bank, Dr. Nasser Al-Qaram, the head of the Shari'a Court of Appeals in Nablus, praised the "righteous martyrs" for having attained the "highest level of Islam." He said that Jihad for the sake of Allah is the pinnacle of Islam, and that the Quran describes killing and being killed as a "profitable deal" between Allah and the martyrs, who are rewarded with Paradise, great respect, and proximity to Allah's throne. He added: "We ask Allah to let us live in faith and to let us die as Muslims, and we ask our Lord to be martyred in this world." Dr. Al-Qaram's sermon was aired on Palestine TV. Nasser Al-Qaram: "I would like to end [the sermon] with our pure martyrs who have attained the highest level of Islam. As you know, the pinnacle of Islam is Jihad for the sake of Allah. [The martyrs] have attained the highest level of Islam – Jihad for the sake of Allah. They have made a profitable deal with Allah. [The Quran says]: 'Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties, and in exchange for that, they will have Paradise.' And what is the price? [The Quran says]: 'They fight for the sake of Allah. They kill, they get killed.' This war is ongoing.

"Hear the glad tidings, oh martyrs! You are alive with your Lord, and you are sustained by Him. The souls of the martyrs are in the bodies of green birds. They roam Paradise, drink from its rivers, and eat its fruit, and then they return to golden chandeliers under Allah's throne. When [martyrs] saw this respect, status, and grace bestowed upon them by Allah, they asked: 'Oh, our Lord, who will tell our families about all this respect?' Allah said: 'I will tell them,' and He sent down [the verse in Quran]: 'Think not of those who were killed for the sake of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord and they are sustained by Him.' Congratulations to the martyrs ! We ask Allah to let us live in faith and to let us die as Muslims, and we ask our Lord to be martyred in this world."
