Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised speech on February 16 that "if the Lebanese Higher Defense Council makes an official decision that some gas and oil rigs in the Palestinian sea – a sea plundered by Israel, the enemy entity – must not operate, I promise you that within a few hours they will not operate anymore." The crowds responded with cries of "We respond to your call, Nasrallah!" The speech, at a rally marking the tenth anniversary of the "martyrdom" of Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyah, was broadcast on the Lebanese Al-Jadeed/New TV channel.
