Iranian State Press TV Correspondent Ramin Mazaheri Reports Live From 'Arrest Netanyahu' Protest In Washington DC: Many Young People Had Their Eyes Opened By TikTok And Iran's Press TV

Ramin Mazaheri, a correspondent for Press TV (Iran) reported live from the "Arrest Netanyahu" protest in Washington D.C. on July 24, 2024. He said that this protest, against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's speech to the joint session of Congress, was "really a very big deal," because the U.S. has not had many protests, besides a one-day protest against the Gulf War in 2003 and previously against the Vietnam War. Mazaheri added that many things in America have changed because young people have had their eyes opened by TikTok, Instagram, and Press TV. It Is worth noting, that the Press TV account on X, retweeted a video of the American flag being removed and burned later on in the same rally.

Ramin Mazaheri: "This is something that has been planned to go on all day. So not everyone here was ready to start at 11 a.m. I would estimate that there are at least 10,000 people here looking around. For the United States, you have to remember, this is not a country that has many protests. I mean, throughout the 2020s, you have got nothing – except for one day during the Gulf War in 2003. We have to go back to the Vietnam War [to see real protest]. So in the United States to have 10,000 people to come from all over the U.S. to the Capitol, is really a very big deal.

"So many thing have changed and there are a lot of young people that have had their eyes opened by places like TikTok, Instagram, and alternative media like Press TV. They are finally seeing the images of Israeli brutality that older Americans have never seen. There were decades and decades of censorship about what is really going on in Gaza.

[...]

"We will see if there are protests inside Congress. Just to add about the amazing turnout, despite very intense heat. They had record-breaking heat here in D.C. recently. Because it is just so important to denounce U.S. complicity and the arrival of what is clearly a war criminal, Netanyahu."
