IRGC commander-in-chief General Hossein Salami stated in a September 8, 2024 address, which was aired on IRINN TV (Iran) that Israel is trembling at the "nightmare of Iran’s definite retaliatory action." He said that "they will taste the bitterness of revenge," but the "revenge will be different this time." Salami added: "They will learn not to play with the lion’s tail." General Salami made his remarks at a cultural conference in Iran’s Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.

Hossein Salami: "The Zionist regime in that occupied enclave, near the Mediterranean, is besieged by the Muslims, from Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon... They tremble day and night anticipating the nightmare of Iran's definite retaliatory action. They cannot continue to exist politically in this manner. We are witnessing signs of their impending political demise. Their officials have lost their mental balance.

"War has started in their land. There is no path to redemption. They are waiting constantly. They certainly will taste the bitterness of revenge for their wickedness. When? Where? How? Undoubtedly, the revenge will be different [this time]. This riddle will eventually be solved for everybody. They must not think that they can hit and run. They will get hit and will not be able to run away. They will learn great lessons... They will learn not to play with the lion's tail."
