In a Mayadeen TV interview, Jordanian actor Jamil Awad said that he played the part of a Jewish settler in a series in order to show people the nature and conspiracies of the Jews and to convince people that "the Jew is a disease on a global scale, not only in the Arab world."

Following are excerpts from the interview, which aired on May 26, 2015.

Interviewer: You played the role of a Jew in the series "The Blowing of the Wind," and this enraged your father, didn't it?

Jamil Awad: Yes. I played Danny, one of the founders of the settlements in the land of Palestine. Mahmoud Al-Zuyodi, who is a good writer, wrote this show, which was produced by Muhammad Aziziya, a good producer. When I first read the part, I asked myself: Why are they giving me the role of a Jew? But the more I thought about it, I realized that I must play the part of the Jew, in order to show people what this Jew is.

Interviewer: How we thinks, how he acts, how he plots…

Jamil Awad: Yes, to present his conspiracies, his nature… When my father watched the show, he was mad at me at first. After all, the Jews… We are a respected family with our own history. Are you going to erase our entire history, just so you can act?! Gradually, I persuaded him. I said to him: Father, did I properly portray the character of the Jew? Did I convince you and your friends that this Jew is a disease on a global scale, and not only in the Arab world?

Interviewer: Do we have a problem with Jews per se, or with the Zionists?

Jamil Awad: Sir, I suppose the distinction between a Jew, a Zionist, and an Israeli.

Interviewer: But that's antisemitism. It's hostility towards a religion.

Jamil Awad: Who is the Semite, us or them? I am a Semite. We are Semites.

Interviewer: Of course.

Jamil Awad: As for their religion, I believe that contemporary Jews do not subscribe to a monotheistic religion.
